The IP team comprises dedicated IP specialist lawyers as well as in-house trademark, industrial designs & models and patents attorneys. We cover registration and protection of trademarks, service marks, industrial designs and models, patents.

We are specialized in licensing, franchising, technology transfer as well as in litigation related to opposition claims against trademark registrations, cancellation actions, and criminal actions against infringements of all sorts of IP rights. In addition, our intellectual property lawyers also provide advice within the Firm on transactional work and commercial agreements, such as those involving significant technology or valuable trademarks and/or copyrights.

We have been recognized in Romania as pioneers in the field trademark and copyright protection having the most extensive experience in this area. During our enforcement activities related to the IP protection of the most important worldwide business and entertainment software companies, we have been actively interacting and trained the Romanian IP enforcement authorities, such as judges, prosecutors, police, border police and customs.

During recent years, we have also actively participated at official high level discussions focused on the amendment of the copyright law, in the light of recent developments on the market, growing importance and impact of the Internet and, the envisaged accession of Romania to the European Union in 2007.

As recognition of our valuable input and expertise in this field, our IP team was assigned as key local legal expert in a PHARE project on “Upgrading and Harmonization of intellectual and industrial property rights, and strengthening   of implementing authorities in charge of intellectual and industrial property protection”, whose beneficiaries were the Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks and the Romanian Copyright Office.

During this project, we performed extensive research and advanced feasible proposals as to the amendment of the Romanian legislation in the field. In addition, we have closely worked with high level representatives of the Romanian authorities - the Romanian Copyright Office, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of European Integration, the Public Ministry and other important enforcement officials.
As part of the program, we have authored the first “Intellectual Property Case Law Bulletin”, an important desk reference for all IP enforcement authorities and IP specialists.
